The point of satire, and esaeciplly of overstatement, is not to suggest that two things are equal in importance, but to show how they are similar to each other in structure. I have no doubt that Prof. Vecchiarelli Scott is no less concerned with the ongoing disasters in Iraq, if not more concerned with them, than she is with those disasters transpiring more locally. That one has more dire consequences than the other does not change the fact that each of them shares similar types of failures in administration. Take an honest look around you: with 1,000 employees still working without a contract and the president puffing non-existent contracts for faculty left and right, what is there to brag of, esaeciplly on the part of the EMU administration? The dedicated students, faculty, and staff of EMU are getting by inasmuch as they can despite that administrative negligence, but that doesne2€™t mean that the administration doesne2€™t have a great deal to answer for.
